WELL, WE'RE NOT GONNA LIE — COVID 19 KNOCKED US RIGHT ON OUR ASSES.
Pre-pandemic, PowerPlayer was firing on all cylinders, with thousands of club directors, coaches, players, and parents across five countries piling up comments, video, metrics, and ratings in both hockey and baseball. To say we got separated from our momentum by Covid 19 would be putting it mildly.
So what did we do? We took a few deep breaths, stitched up a few wounds, and then we got to work on improving our platform based on what we’d learned.
Making coach to coach / player / parent communication easy was the right thing to do. Coaches told us how PowerPlayer helped them keep everyone who needed to be in the loop in the loop, and how that not only helped individual athletes improve but also helped overall team cohesion and parent relations. They also told us they wished PowerPlayer went further as a communication tool. So we built in some additional capabilities:
• Enhanced one-to-one and one-to-many communication options
• Message response monitoring tools
• Calendar / mapping tools
• Poll / survey tools
• Content sharing options for athletes / parents
PowerPlayer is now a 100% mobile app. It's a whole new ball game that includes efficiencies like:
• Easy, self-serve rostering and onboarding
• Push notifications for coach-to-coach / player / parent communication
• Zero-signal data capture and storage
PowerPlayer now serves five sports. We started with ice hockey and baseball, but in response to the flow of inquiries from coaches involved in soccer, lacrosse, and softball, we’ve retooled key aspects to fit those sports, and we’ll be adding more options as time goes on.
Is the game won yet? No! Phase 1 of the new PowerPlayer is focused on communication. Phase 2 will reintroduce the smart and intuitive metrics and ratings features that provide so much insight into athletic development.
